Shipping Policy

We use a number of courier companies to ensure we have an extensive reach across Australia and we use purpose built boxes to protect the plant from the rigours of a normal shipping process. However, once a plant has been placed with the Courier Company we are no longer responsible for the treatment of that plant. By purchasing a plant, you are acknowledging that there is risk involved in shipping, that you are willing to accept the risk and that risk passes to you upon our delivery of the plants to the Courier Company.

As we only post on Monday's and Tuesday's we have a cut off order time of Sunday midnight before, any purchase made after Sunday will be shipping out the with the batch of orders that are shipped out the following week. As your order was made this Monday it will be shipped next week express to you, and should arrive by that Thursday or Friday at the latest.

This is our policy for the health and quality of our plants we try to avoid our products sitting in the postal system over the weekend which can add up to 3 days without light and water to their travel time.

Quarantine States

Western Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania have different biosecurity laws that make it more difficult to successfully ship live plants to those States. At this time, Florafolia does not ship to these States. Florafolia does not ship plants outside of Australia.

Plant Sizing

Here at Florafolia we grow most of our plants in 3 sizes – small (140mm), medium (175mm) and large (200mm). A small change in pot diameter leads to an exponential increase in pot volume – this means more potting mix, more fertiliser, more room for the plant to grow, a bigger plant and therefore more plant weight. Our small is often larger than others large pot size.

You can see the difference in the graphic of plants that compares a plug, a 140mm pot and a 200mm pot and the corresponding size of the plant and its height.

The table below illustrates the difference in pot size on soil, fertiliser and weight for a Strelitzia nicolai (Bird of Paradise).

You can be safe in the knowledge that the plant will be in the appropriately sized pot with the right amount of nutrients to get it through its next growth period. All you need to figure out is what size plant you want!
