The really, really, ridiculously good looking Aspidistra

A small confession - I really love Aspidistras. In curating a room of plants, you have your show-offs, your high maintenance friends, some solid reliable mates and then well, you have those one or two friends that are just a little different - stylishly understated that stand out in a crowd. This is the Aspidistra.

The dark green twirling leaves create an architectural statement and that it loves a shady spot makes it very versatile as a stand-alone plant for an entry way or a coffee table.

Their stylish good looks and reasonable maintenance requirements have meant that these plants have been in vogue for decades, and there's no stopping them now.

A cup of water every couple of weeks, and some good fertiliser will see them continue to thrive. Keep an eye out for tell-tale signs of spider-mites - its hard to describe but if the leaves look faded and dusty instead of dark green then it may need a regular spray for mites, especially on the underside of the leaves.

Keep an eye out for the variegated version and a smaller spotty one called Milky Way and you will have a runway worthy collection. (Coming Soon)
